Most children diagnosed with  attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have at least one these conditions.
ADHD

Conditions that are common in children with ADHD

Learning disability : ADHD is not a learning disability. However it makes it more difficult for a child to do well in school.

 

Oppositional defiant disorder or conduct disorder : Children with this disorder tend to lose their temper easily or annoy people on purpose. They are defiant and hostile towards people in authority. About 35% o children with ADHD have this disorder. These kids are more likely to have substance abuse or get into trouble with the law that those who have only ADHD.

 

Anxiety disorder : Children with anxiety disorders have extreme feeling of fear, worry or panic that makes it difficult for them to function. This condition is common in about 25% of children with ADHD.

 

Mood disorder : Mood disorder such as depression and bipolar is common in about 18% of kids with ADHD.These disorders are more common among children with ­inattentive and combined types of ADHD. Coexisting mood disorders put children at risk of suicide especially in their teenage years.

 

Language disorders : It may be difficult for children with ADHD  to use language. This is known as pragmatic language disorder.
