Infertility is in the inability to get pregnant after having regular , unprotected sex for 6 months to a year depending  on your age. The main symptom of infertility is not getting pregnant. Symptoms may also depend on what is causing your fertility issues . Sometimes no cause is found.

Signs of infertility in women

 

Changes in menstrual cycle or ovulation may be related to infertility. This includes the following :

  • irregular periods
  • abnormal periods that is period that is too heavy or too light
  • no period that is if your period suddenly stops or you never had a period
  • painful periods

 
Fertility problems may also be related to hormones. In this case you may experience symptoms such as the following :

  • changes in sex drive
  • skin changes such as more acne
  • loss of hair or thinning  of hair
  • gaining weight
  • growth of dark hair on the lips, chest and chin.

 
You may also experience symptoms such as painful sex  and milky white discharge from the nipple which is not related to breastfeeding.

 

Sign of infertility in men

 
Infertility in men may go unnoticed until they are trying to have a baby. Symptoms depend on what is causing it  and may include the following :

  • changes in sexual desire
  • problems with erection and ejaculation
  • pain, lump or swelling in the testicles
  • changes in hair growth
  • small , firm testicles

 

When to see your doctor

 
If you are below the age of 35 and have been trying to conceive for a year without any success, then see your doctor. Women 35 and older should see their doctor after trying  for 6 months with no success.
