During the eleventh week of pregnancy, you will experience many physical changes. Firstly, a vertical dark line, which is known as the linea nigra, will start appearing in the center of your belly sometimes around this week. Moreover, you will not be feeling relaxed by now due to the highly increased hormone levels in your body. Therefore, it is advisable to take a trip, a “babymoon”, in the second trimester.
How’s the Baby Doing?
Right now, your baby is growing at a remarkable rate; and by the eleventh week, it is almost the size of a lime, measuring 1.6 inches long and weighing 0.25 ounces. The head to body ratio of the baby reaches 1:1 by now. The movements of your baby will become graceful and fluid, the toes and nails will lose the webbed structure, and the nail beds, tooth buds and hair follicles will form. Your baby will also have a see-through skin by now.
The Symptoms
Here are some symptoms you should look out for in this week:
• Increased vaginal discharge as the linea nigra appears
• Increased fatigue, nausea, mood swings and gas; you will have to get used to all the increased burping and farting.
• Increased cramps in the legs, especially at night causing disturbance in sleep
What to Do?
It is time to schedule another monthly prenatal visit to your doctor, especially if you had the first one right at the beginning of your pregnancy. You should also get started with some mind/body exercises like Yoga to keep your hormonal changes in check. However, you should only do light exercise, and that too after consulting your doctor.
