Healthy hair care habits for kids

  • When using heat on the hair, lower the heat.
  • Make braids and ponytails loose.
  • Use a wide-tooth comb more often than a brush.
  • Try hair styles that do not require chemicals or heat.
  • Wear a wide brim hat when outside to protect the scalp.
  • You have to know that chemicals in relaxers, dyes and other styling products damage hair. It is better to have longer periods between treatments.
  • Wash away pool chemicals from your child’s hair after swimming.

Teaching your child how to shampoo their hair

Let your child follow these steps when they are ready to shampoo. This will help them develop healthy hair care habits.

  • Wet the hair and scalp with warm water.
  • Pour a quartz size shampoo in the palm of her hand,
  • The child should massage the shampoo gently into the scalp.
  • Rinse her hair well water until it’s suds-free.
