In order to make playtime as safe as possible , it is important to think about your child when selecting toys.
Toy Safety Tips
- Consider your child’s age when buying a toy or game. You should read the instructions and label to make sure it is right for your child.
- You should check the toy to make sure there are no small parts or choking hazards.
- You should also keep an eye on small piece games that pose as choking hazards for young children. Games that are great for older kids may pose a potential danger to younger kids.
- Store toys in a container or toy storage for later use after play.
- Dont pick heavy toys that can harm a child if it fell on her.
- Skip balloons even though they may be fun to bounce around Uninflated balloons (or pieces of burst balloons) can form a tight seal in a child’s airway and make it impossible to breathe when ingested.
- Don’t pick out toys with strings or cords longer than 12 inches. A long cord can easily wrap around a young child’s neck, causing strangulation.
- Avoid toys with small magnets. When these small powerful magnets fall out of the toys, they can be swallowed by the child.
- Watch out for toxic toys. It is important to make sure that toys are not made with chemicals such as Cadmium, lead, mercury, and arsenic that can harm your child.
