Personal hygiene in kids
When your child catches an infection, it is important to take extra steps to lower the risk of spreading the infection. Here are some steps to take when trying to reduce the spread of germs.
- Encourage your chid to sneeze into a tissue and if a tissue isn’t available , let the child sneeze into his sleeve.
- You have to discourage your child from covering his mouth with his hands when sneezing or coughing. This is because he will leave the germs on the hands and that can be spread by touching other people or objects. Germs are usually spread by hands and not through the air.
- Throw tissues away immediately after use. You can put them in a nearby waste basket or waste container.
- Once the child is old enough, teach him how to blow his nose using a tissue.
- Do not allow children to share pacifiers, drinking cups , eating utensils , towels or toothbrushes.
