A new study shows that breastfeeding reduces your child’s risk of childhood leukemia. The study shows that breastfeeding your baby for 6 months or longer may decrease his risk of developing childhood leukemia.
Childhood leukemia is the leading cause of death in babies in developed countries and represents about 30% of childhood cancers. However little is known about its cause.
Breastfeeding bolsters the baby’s immune system. Breast milk contains stem cells and breastfed babies ingest thousands and millions of these everyday. This is why its is very important that newborns are breastfed for at least 6 months after childbirth.
