Telling your child you’re pregnant
It is generally recommended you tell children they are have a little sibling when the first trimester is over and the pregnancy is well established. It is important to tell your child early that you are pregnancy because kids come become upset by changes they can see but cannot explain. Also telling your child early reduce her sense of displacement . This is because she has more months of your undivided attention before the baby is born.
You should be brief and simple when explaining to your child that you are pregnant. For example you can say , ” You have a little sister. She is growing inside my tummy and will be ready to come out next summer”. Don’t overload the child with facts. Give her time to absorb the news and ask any questions she may have. You should also tell the child the sex of the new baby so that she is more prepared when the baby comes.
