It is okay to bath your baby anytime that is convenient for you. However you have to make sure that
- bathing doesn’t interfere with sleep
- baby doesn’t feel cold
- dont bath baby when she is hungry
Some parents prefer morning baths when the baby is alert. Others prefer making baby baths a calming bedtime ritual. Either way it is fine so far as it fits in your schedule.
You should use warm not hot water . If you bath the baby after feeding, it is important to wait a bit to make sure that the baby’s tummy has settled a bit. You can also follow bathing with feeding. Most babies get so comfortable that they drift off to sleep.
When you get familiar with your newborns feeding and sleeping pattern , you can figure out when is the best time to bath her and stick with the routine. Babies love repetition. They will learn to recognize what comes next and stick with it. This can make bathing and putting the baby to sleep much easier.
Some babies like being in water and other need some time to get use to it. Follow your baby’s cue and keep bath time short if she doesnt like baths.
Once you have set a routine, you can adapt as the baby grows and changes . When the baby starts crawling or eating solid, you may want to give her a bath at night to make sure she wont get dirty all over again.
