Should i diet before trying to conceive ?
It is safe to diet before trying to get pregnant. Your chances of getting pregnancy and having a healthy pregnancy increases when you are at the right weight. Being overweight can result in abnormal menstrual cycle which can increase your risk of infertility.
Overweight women are also likely to have pregnancy complications such as
- high blood pressure
- diabetes
- difficult delivery
It is important to stay away from diet plans that eliminate certain foods or food groups such as carbohydrates. Foods that cut out milk products, fruits and vegetables can rob the body of important nutrients that you need to sustain a healthy pregnancy.
You should stick to diets that consider good carbs such as whole grain bread, pastas and brown rice. It should also include enough lean protein such as lean cut meat, chicken and fish, low fat dairy products such as yogurt, milk or cheese as well as fruits and vegetables. You also have to drink enough water.
