Why is my labia swollen after vaginal delivery
It is normal for your labia to be swollen and sore after vaginal delivery. The process of giving birth traumatizes the tissues in the vaginal area. However the body has the ability to miraculously bounce back.
The postpartum treatment you are already giving your perineum with includes ice pack for the first 12 to 24 hours and warm sitz baths after that will help with your swollen labia.
The swelling and soreness of the labia will begin to subside a few days to a week after childbirth. By two weeks , the labia should be restored. If you do not notice any improvement around this time, let your doctor know.
