Changing my child’s belly button from an outie to an innie
No , you cannot change your baby’s belly button from an outie to an innie. The shape of the belly button has nothing to do with how the cord was cut or anything that you did. It is due to how the baby’s umbilical cord met her belly.
There are some cases when an outie can settle down on its own and become an innie. A bulging belly button may also be due to an umbilical hernia. This can occur when the cord area doesn’t close completely right after birth. This usually causes no problems and go away by the time the child is 12 to 18 months. If the cord area doesnt close by the time the child is 3 or 4 years, the child may require surgery.
