Stress is part of growing up. However you need to intervene when you realize that stress is affecting your child’s physical and psychological wellbeing.
Cues that may indicate that stress is having a negative impact on your child
- the child seems restless, tired or agitated
- she develops physical symptoms such as headaches and stomach pains
- she looks depressed and is not expressing how she is feeling
- the child’s school grades begin to fall and has less interest in attending classes and doing homework
- she shows lack of interest in her activities
- she exhibits bad behaviors such as stealing, lying , forgets or refuses to do her chores and becomes more dependent on you
