It’s easy for toys to be infected with germs. Washing and disinfecting your child’s toys and surface greatly reduces the risk of spreading germs especially in a day care setting or places where children are together.
Keep dirty toys out of reach of children. When a toy becomes dirty after your child has played with it, put it in a bin and out the child’s reach and then wash them .
How to clean toys and surfaces
Clean : Scrubbing with soap and water effectively removes germs from surfaces. You can use this method on surfaces where chemical disinfectant are not recommended such as furniture.
Disinfect : Toys and surfaces should be disinfected when possible. You can disinfectant some toys in the dishwasher. Chemicals such as ammonia, bleach and hydrogen peroxide can be used to disinfect surfaces and objects. You need to follow the manufacturers instruction on how to use these products .
NOTE
Do not mix bleach with other cleaners because the mixer can produce toxic gas. Bleach should only be mixed with water. Be sure to keep all chemicals out of reach of children.
