Choosing a school for your child is an important decision. Families have different values when it comes to choosing schools. Some parents may be wondering whether to engage in traditional schooling or home school. Others may be wondering which route to go in terms of public, charter or private school. Whatever the case, be certain factors such a financial situation as well distance from school may play a role. Parents should play a key role in their children’s education. How to choose the best school for your child
- Start looking at schools early. Some start enrollment as early as January
- Visit the school. Some schools offer open house forums or visits for new parents. You can also call and schedule a one on one tour
- Consider the types of curriculum . You should ask about the technologies used in the classroom
- Ask about specific resources your child may or may not need in future such as
- special education classes
- response to intervention
- title 1 program
- do they have after school extracurriculum activities such as after school sports
- consider their schedule such as do they have before and after school programs, are summer programs available and so on
- ask questions to any concerns you may have
