Chemical exposure and miscarriage
You increase your risk of a miscarriage when you often get exposed to certain chemicals . Chemicals that increase your risk of a miscarriage include the following :
- Medications : Before you get pregnant or as soon as you’re pregnant, talk to your doctor about medications you are taking. For examples taking medications such as isotretinoin during pregnancy increases your risk of a miscarriage and causes birth defects .
- Tetrachloroethylene which is used for cleaning
- Arsenic, lead , formaldehyde, benzene and ethylene oxide
- Cocaine
- Alcohol : This can cause birth defects or intellectual disabilities. There is no known safe amount of alcohol intake during pregnancy. This best thing is to avoid alcohol altogether during pregnancy
