It is important for men trying to conceive to avoid prolonged or frequent use of hot tubs. Research has indicated that repeated exposure to heat significantly reduce sperm count. It may take about 4 to 6 month after this happens for the the sperm count to return to normal.
Heat exposure may also damage sperm DNA . That is why the testes of men are outside the body. They need to be in a cooler environment to produce healthy sperms.
You can engage in activities that generate heat such as saunas, bicycling, wearing tight underwear and hot tubs in moderation . If you are trying to conceive and have marginal sperm count, you may want to avoid these altogether .
There is no evidence that using hot tubs and saunas have an affect on a woman’s egg. However it is known that saunas and hot tubs are not recommended during pregnancy.
