Signs that indicate you need to change baby bottles and nipples
Signs that baby bottle needs to be changed
You have to change your baby’s bottle when you see the following :
- cracks, chips or breaks : This can cause injury in your child especially if you use a glass bottle
- scratched and worn out plastic bottles : Stubborn germs can hide in the scratches even if you’ve throughly cleaned the bottle
- if you use bottles with liners, you need to throw away the liners after each use
Signs that nipples need to be replaced
Toss your nipples when you see the following :
- discoloration or cloudiness could be a sign that the nipple is deteriorating
- if the formula pours out like a stream instead of dripping steadily from the nipple. This could mean the nipple hole is too big and as a result nipple needs to be replaced
- cracks, tears and breaks : Pieces of the nipple could break off and be a choking hazard
- stickiness and swelling could be a sign that the nipple is deteriorating
- thinning which is an early sign that the nipple is weakening
- when your child has outgrown them and needs a different size to feed
