Signs of child abuse in children
Some of the specific signs of child abuse include the following :
- lack of proper nutrition
- lacks attention to personal cleanliness such as being dirty, smelly and unkempt
- lack of medical or dental care
- pattern of tardiness or missing school
- not dressing appropriately for the season
- lack of supervision such as young children left unattended or with other children too young to protect or care for them
Signs of poor home environment that may indicate that the child is being neglected
- unsanitary condition at home
- housekeeping problems
- lack of shelter, heat, water , bedding or clothing
- fire or structural hazards
- insufficient sleeping arrangements
Behavioral problems that may indicate child neglect
- self destructing feelings or behavior
- alcohol or drug abuse because they may have access to drugs and alcohol
- poor school performance , being absent from school most of the time and tardiness may also indicate child neglect
