During pregnancy , the body makes lots of hormones. The hormones have an effect on your mind and body. Pregnant women feel tired, moody or forgetful. They may also be concerned about other things such as body changes, finances and all other ways their lives are about to change. All these contribute to emotional changes during pregnancy .
Changes you may go through during pregnancy
It is common to go through changes during pregnancy .
First trimester : Morning sickness and extreme fatigue is common during this semester. Most women are moody . Some feel anxious or excited about a new pregnancy . Some may also feel anxious that the pregnancy wasn’t planned.
Second trimester : Fatigue, morning sickness and mood swings usually improve or go away during this semester. However you may become forgetful and disorganized than before. You may also feel lots of emotions when the baby moves or when you look at the way your body has changed .
Third trimester : As your due date draws near, you may feel anxious about meeting your newborn. You may still be forgetful. Some women also worry about how the new baby will change their lives. During the end as you feel more tired and uncomfortable, you may be more irritated than before.
Some people experience depression and anxiety during pregnancy. However for other people these conditions may improve. Talk to your doctor you experience the following :
- have trouble sleeping
- feel sad, tearful or guilty
- feel anxious, irritable, hopeless or worthless
- have trouble concentrating
- have big changes in appetite
When not treated , mental problem can get in the way of a healthy pregnancy .
