Some studies have suggested that caffeine may have an effect on conception. However most experts also say the evidence is not enough to conclude that caffeine has a negative effect on conception.
It is considered safe to consume 200 to 300 mg of caffeine daily when trying to get pregnant.
Which foods contain caffeine
Some of the foods that contain caffeine include the following :
- coffee
- tea
- soft drinks
- energy drinks
- chocolate
- coffee ice cream
It can also be found in some herbs and over the counter medications including those for headaches, cold and allergy remedies.
How can you cut back on caffeine ?
You have to cut back on caffeine slowly to prevent withdrawal symptoms. You can start with drinks that are half decaf. Cut down on home made beverages by watering them down. Steep your tea bag for one minute instead of 5 minutes.
