Heavy bleeding during the first few weeks after delivery or after an abortion may occur . This is because the uterus has not contracted to the pre pregnancy size or because fetal tissue remain in the uterus.
At age 40 and over, bleeding may indicate that you are entering perimenopause . If you’ve not had your period for 12 months , vaginal bleeding is always abnormal and you need to contact your doctor.
