What to do when you discover you’re pregnant
Choose a doctor or midwife : You will be seeing an obstetrician, family physician or midwife. It is important that you choose a good match. Once you have one, it is now time to schedule your first prenatal visit which should be around 8 weeks of pregnancy .
Prepare for your baby’s arrival ahead of time by doing the following :

- figure out your finances : Get your finances straight because having a baby can be very expensive
- brainstorm baby names : You dont need to choose anytime soon but you can start thinking about it
Take care of you and your baby . This can be done by doing the following :
- stay healthy : It is important to get enough folic acid , start taking prenatal vitamins , eat healthy, exercise and get enough sleep
- avoid bad lifestyle choices such as drinking excessive alcohol, smoking , taking too much caffeine, using recreational drugs and avoiding various toxins
- get ready for pregnancy symptoms : You have to know that pregnancy comes with lots of unpleasant symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, fatigue, breast tenderness, frequent urination, odd food cravings and various aches and pains
- get ready for body changes : Pregnancy just doesnt come with expanding belly and huge breasts. You may also experience the following :
- varicose veins
- swollen ankles
- stretch marks
- darkened skins
- acne breakout
- think hair
- Track your baby’s development : Your baby is growing and changing fast. Track his development each week and let our doctor know if your think something is not right .
