Safety of tap water during pregnancy
It is generally safe to drink tap water during pregnancy . Tap water in the United State is monitored to make sure that the contaminants are kept very low. However you are responsible for testing and treating water that comes from a private well.
Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s information on well water testing .
Studies have shown that drinking water from the tap in some areas was associated with some problems during pregnancy. However the studies couldn’t prove that this water was the cause of the pregnancy problem.
You have to know that if you are aware that water from your tap is contaminated, you shouldn’t consume whether you’re pregnant or not. Bottle water may not be safer than water from the tap because it is not as well regulated.
If you have any concerns about the water coming from your tap , you can get a copy of the annual water quality report.
