Backward crawling in babies
Babies usually start crawling around the ages of 7 to 10 months. The baby will choose the most efficient way to crawl. Your baby will push backwards if her arms are stronger than her legs. There is nothing wrong with this and it doesnt mean your baby had skipped a developmental milestone. The baby wont be bothered by backward crawling so far as she can get to wherever she wants to go.
As the baby’s legs get stronger, she will probably learn how to crawl forward. However sometimes babies who crawl backward will need to be encouraged to crawl forward. This can be done by putting her favorite toy in front of her but out of arms reach. Your baby may get frustrated trying to reach the toy but it is important to let her try it on her own. This will help her strengthen the muscles she needs to move forward.
It is normal if your baby never crawls forward or skips crawling altogether.
