Many parents worry about taking their newborns out. However there is no medical reason to keep your healthy newborn indoor. Going outside and getting some fresh air can actually be good for people of all ages including babies. You just have to take a few precautions. It is actually the exposure of babies to other people that can cause them to get sick.
Precautions to take when taking your newborn out
You can take your newborn out but just take a few precautions .
- do not overdress or underdress the baby when you go outside. The baby needs to have as many layers of clothing as you have on yourself. You also need to keep a blanket handy.
- keep the baby out of direct sunlight (The skin of newborns is delicate and burns easily). Keep the baby in shade and cover her skin with light layer of clothing
- try to avoid places with sick people
If you’re going to take your baby out for more than an hour, you need to be prepared. You have to stock your diaper bag with changing supplies, extra clothing and feeding supplies.
Avoid taking your baby out during extreme temperatures such as when its too hot or too cold.
NOTE
To protect your baby from getting sick, you have to limit the time you spend at enclosed areas with crowd. You also have to make sure anyone who holds the baby washes his hands well. More importantly , you have to stay away from sick people.
