Diaper choice for your baby
Diaper choice is a dilemma faced by most parents. It is ideal to make
a decision whether you are going to use a disposable or cloth diaper before the baby arrives so that you can stock up and make arrangement for delivery ahead of time. When planning, you have to keep in mind that most newborns go through about 10 diapers a day.
Disposable diapers : These consist of an inner liner next to the baby to help keep the baby’s skin dry, an absorbent core made of purified wood pulp and super absorbent polymers and an outer waterproof covering. They have over the years become lighter and thinner and meet the baby’s needs, easy and convenient to use. When you are changing a soiled diaper, dump the loose stool in the toilet and flush. Do not flush the diaper. It can block the plumbing. Wrap the diaper in its outer cover and dump it in the a waste receptacle.
Cloth diapers : These have improved over the years . They are available in a variety of absorbencies and textures. When washing the diaper, keep them seperate from other clothing. After you dump the stool in the toilet, rinse the diaper in cold water and soak it in a mild detergent solution with bleach. After that wash it with a mild detergent in hot water.
Choosing a diaper : Both disposable and cloth have their downside. They have environmental effects, including raw material and energy usage, air and water pollution, and waste disposal. The disposable ones add to municipal waste while the cloth types use more water and energy in laundering and contribute to air and water pollution. At the end, it is up to the individual to choose a diaper type based on their own concerns and needs .
You also have to remember that cloth diapers dont keep wetness away from the baby’s skin as effectively as disposable diapers. To prevent diaper rash, it is crucial to change cloth diaper quickly after they become soiled or wet.
