Last minute activities before childbirth

Here are a number of activities you have to consider doing before delivery

• list people who will receive the birth announcement
• cook a number of meals and freeze them
• if you  plan on having child care and housekeeping, interview the candidates in advance

Your last minute check list should also include the following :

• name, address and phone number of hospital
• name , address and phone number of the doctor or midwife who will deliver the baby. You also need the name and contact of the person who will cover if the doctor is not available
• the quickest route to hospital or birthing center
• the location of the hospital entrance you need to use when labor begins
• the phone number of emergency services just case help is needed
• the phone number of the person who will take you to the hospital ( if they do not live with you )
• your hospital bag should be packed  with essentials such as toiletries ,clothing , addresses and phone numbers of relatives and friends , receiving blankets and reading material
• an approved car seat for the baby. Make sure the car seat is properly installed
• if you have other children, arrange for care during your hospital stay
