How your 40 week old baby is doing ?

Your baby is 10 months old. He is beginning to understand simple words and certain phrases. It is therefore more important that ever to keep talking to him. At this stage,  it is better to avoid the use of baby language. For example if you baby says eee eee , you can gently reinforce the correct pronunciation by asking , ” do you want to eat ?”.  Hearing the right word is better for your baby’s  development.

Having  a conversation with your baby is a great way to encourage his language skills. Even if he is talking gibberish, you can still use words like really, what happened. This will encourage him to talk more.

Your life

As your baby grows, carrying him may increase your risk for muscle injuries. You can do the following to reduce your risk.

  • always  bend your knees and crouch rather than folding over your waist when you pick your baby
  • invest in a good baby backpack or carrier that distributes the baby’s weight evenly  and does not strain  your back or neck. Look for one with wide padded straps
  • your can hold your baby proper while seated by sitting up straight in a comfortable, supportive chair with arm rest
  • alternate the arm use to hold and feed your baby to prevent wrist pain. You can also use a splint if you are at risk of wrist pain or any type of  wrist injury
  • look into daily stretches and strengthening exercises specifically designed for your back. This may help build your back muscles.

However if you do strain  your back, taking a warm bath or shower may help relive the pain. You can also try over the counter pain reliever to reduce inflammation.
