Clumsiness during pregnancy is common especially during the last few months . It is normal and caused by a number of factors. You are carrying more weight than you are use to and your center of gravity shifts as your uterus grows. Hormonal changes also causes ligaments in your joints, knees and pelvis to loosen. This causes your posture to change and your sense of balance to get worse. Swelling of legs and feet may also be responsible for this.

How can you protect yourself from getting hurt ?

 

These  tips will help you protect yourself from getting hurt

  • slow down  and try not to put yourself in situations that increases your risk for falling
  • wear safe, comfortable shoes instead of high heels
  • take special care when walking on wet, icy or uneven surface and also when going up and down the stairs
  • dont carry heavy loads and try to avoid wide loads too
  • be careful when you need to pick up and carry a child
  • beware of your surroundings and make sure you have adequate lightening

When should i call my doctor about clumsiness during pregnancy ?

 

Clumsiness is usually not a cause for alarm and usually gets  better after childbirth. However if it is accompanied by lightheadedness,blurred vision, headache, sudden swelling and any form of pain, contact your health care provider immediately.
