Teeth whitening and pregnancy
There is not enough evidence to indicate whether teeth whitening during pregnancy is safe or not. It is therefore better to avoid it during pregnancy . As a matter of fact, it is not recommended that dentists perform this procedure on pregnant women . Do not be enticed by beauticians and salons that offer teeth whitening treatment. It is against the law for anyone other than dentist to perform this procedure.
Over the counter whitening kits contain bleaching agents that brighten the teeth. However these bleaching agents may cause damage to teeth enamel.
Teeth whitening toothpaste may be okay to use because they are used largely as stain reducing rather than whitening. However it is important to brush, floss and see your dentist regularly.
