Drug use during pregnancy is not safe for the mother or unborn child. Cocaine is a street drug that usually comes as a white powder. It is snorted or mixed with water and then injected with a needle. Cocaine can also be smoked when it is made into small white rocks called crack. Cocaine use during pregnancy can cause serious harm.

This drug affects the central nervous system. It may change your sense of sight, sound and touch. It can cause nausea, stomach pain , tremors and headaches. It can also make you feel restless, scared and angry.

- infections such as HIV and hepatitis
- loss of smell
- severe weight loss
