What is trichomoniasis ?

Trichomoniasis is a very common sexually transmitted disease which is caused by  a protozoan parasite called  Trichomonas vaginalis.  Most people who have this parasite cannot tell that they are infected.

How is trichomoniasis transmitted ?

You can get the parasite through   sexual contact with an infected person. This include  vulva-to-vulva contact or vaginal – to-penis-intercourse. The parasite cannot survive in the mouth or rectum.
