Around pregnancy week 24, your doctor would order you to have a Glucose Tolerant Test to check for risk of gestational diabetes. By now, the kicks and baby’s movements would get much stronger and your baby will start looking cuter. Although you’ll start feeling some discomfort by now, you just need to hang in there because soon, you will be entering your last trimester.

How’s the Baby Doing At Pregnancy Week 24?

By week 24, your baby will be the size of a cantaloupe, measuring somewhere between 10.5 and 11.8 inches. The average weight of the baby around this week should be between 12.7 and 20.8 ounces as the baby gets ready to thrive in the outside world. The see-through skin of your baby will start getting opaque, getting a pinkish tinge to it due to the now developed capillaries. Your baby is now looking more like a baby!

The Symptoms At Pregnancy Week 24

The symptoms you’ll be experiencing during this week include:

  • The linea nigra would start getting more apparent; it would disappear after the delivery
  • More stretch marks
  • Increased backaches and leg cramps
  • Swollen feet and ankles

What to Do?

Somewhere between the 24th and 28th week, you would be required to have a glucose screening test. It’s a simple test and you will definitely enjoy it since all you’ll have to do is drink sweet tea and wait for an hour before your blood sample is collected. Always keep cranberry juice around you because it’s one of the best sources of Vitamin C for you. If you have a habit of dyeing your hair, it’s better to give it up for now as it’s often speculated that hair dyes can be risky for the baby’s health. Stay safe and healthy for your baby.
