Literature is a very important part of our lives. So many stories have been told, and many of them become staples for our everyday lives. Literature is one of the most beautiful forms of expression. Books have always had a bearing on society, and arguably always will. Nothing brings out the imagination in a child like a good book. That is why books are so important for growing minds. Take a step into a fantasy world, or learn how to do something, books are around to give your mind the exercise it needs to become great.
Several children’s books really bring out the best in our children, and these books deserve praise. Take a step into a good book, and help your child’s mind grow more powerful, at the same exact time. Kids grow more intelligent as our generations pass, and a lot of it is thanks to the children’s books that are available on the market, today. This short list includes which 5 children’s books I think are most beneficial for our kids.
Where the Wild Things Are
Where the Wild Things Are is arguably the most intriguing and fantastic children’s books of our time. It was written and illustrated by American author Maurice Sendak in 1963, and has maintained its own place among the great books in children’s literature ever since. One of my personal favorites as a child has withstood the test of time.
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
Great kids books bring out the best of a child’s imagination, and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, by Judi Barrett, is one of the best children’s books at doing so. This piece of children’s literature heaven is a great book for kids, because it teaches kids the importance of their imagination.
A Wrinkle in Time
A Wrinkle in Time is a piece of children’s literature history. Although it is known as being a bit controversial, Madeline L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time puts the children into a creative and imaginative world about time travel. For kids that are 10 or older, but a great read for kids that love imaginative stories.
Where the Sidewalk Ends
Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein is one of the greatest pieces of literature that was written for children. Not only children love Shel Silverstein’s compilation of poetry. People of all ages appreciate the greatness within the book. Where the Sidewalk Ends is easily one of the most influential pieces of children’s literature. Falling Up is another classic book of children’s poetry by Silverstein, and is equally influential.
Aesop’s Fables
It is hard to imagine a book written in the year 600 BC could still have such an astounding impact on children’s literature today. Aesop was a famous Greek story-teller and slave. Among his most famous telling is the story of “The Tortoise and the Hare”, which is still being retold by countless authors to this day. Aesop’s Fables are the essence of greatness in children’s literature, and they also help to instill morals into our children.
