Adorable Painter

Finding an artistic outlet for your kids is great. Not only does it teach them to use their imagination, and teach them how to be more creative, but it keeps them from getting into trouble when they get too bored. As most parents know, a bored kid can be a kid that gets themselves into trouble. Art is a great way to keep kids busy, and it also helps them express themselves in a way they may not be used to. Artistic expression is healthy for kids of any age, and even healthy for parents, too.

Thinking of art projects to make can be difficult. Thinking of art projects that are kid friendly can be even more difficult. Art can come in many forms, though. The best part about art is that it can be created with so many tools. Use this short list for a few ideas for your child’s next art project.

Edible finger paint

Parents can take finger painting to a whole new level, and keep it safe for the youngest of our children. It is very easy to create, and all it takes is about 2 minutes to whip up. Simply take a few cups of plain vanilla pudding, and add food coloring to each cup to create your paint colors. And that’s it! Your kids will love the fact that they can get their hands dirty, and lick them clean afterward. Food coloring can stain your skin and clothes if you aren’t careful, so always supervise your children using edible finger paint.

Create a bird nest

A lot of kids have done this on their own as a kid, and don’t be afraid to admit that you were one of them. Kids love to create a little home for birds, and using mud as the glue, they can build some pretty high tech bird nests. It is so easy to recreate an official looking bird’s nest out of lawn clippings and mud. You can even help attach the bird’s nest to a tree branch nook using a bit of mud as glue. Building bird nests is actually a whole lot of fun. Not to mention, what kid doesn’t like playing in mud?

Popsicle sticks

You can make anything from a bird house, to a bridge, and even a snowflake using Popsicle sticks. The sticks act as Lincoln logs of sorts, and your kids will have endless possibilities of crafts to create with them. Such a simple tool, but a great one for hundreds of crafts projects.

Next time your kid is having a hard time staying out of trouble, help them put forth their energy into something positive. Or even if your kids just enjoy creating cool crafts, which is okay too. Art comes in many forms, and all of them are equal.
