Baby with blocks

Most parents try to get their kids to play with toys that have some substance to them. Sure kids are supposed to play and have fun, but why not learn a few things while they are doing so? There are a ton of different intellectual toys available to help kids progress mentally while doing little more than playing.

Everybody knows about the Rubik’s Cube, but not all kids are too keen on puzzles that are overly difficult. It can be boring for kids to keep trying to solve the same puzzle repeatedly, especially when they aren’t having success with it. There are a lot of toys around that have simplified puzzles, and other ways that they help kids learn.

The Alphie robot toy by Playskool is a great tool to help children learn. It puts the learning into your children’s hands by letting them select which puzzle they want to solve. Alphie comes with an abundance of cards and games that will help your child develop basic skills. Matching colors, shapes, sizes, and Alphie has its own version of hide-and-seek. Kids will feel like they have a friend to help them learn when they are playing with Alphie.

An ant farm is something that not a lot of kids even know exists. It is a valuable learning tool. Having an ant farm toy is much more than a toy. It is like having a science experiment in your own hands. You can teach your child about the life cycle of an ant, how they build tunnels, how they carry food, and teach your child the importance of an eco system as a whole. Ant farms can really help get your kids brain working.

With so many different toys on the market, there is no shortage of choices of quality educational toys. Almost any toy can be a learning experience for a child, if it is used in the correct way. Here is a short list of a few more kids’ toys that will be sure to get their brain working:

Telescope – Telescopes can be used to see planets that are a part of our solar system, and beyond

Musical instruments – The relationship between intelligence and music is not imagined. Musical instruments are a great way to give your brain a workout.

Lego building blocks – Building blocks are a great way to teach kids to be creative.

Books – Some parents might not think of books belonging in the category of kids’ toys, but books are some of the most educational recourses that a child could learn from. Books should be a huge part of any kids’ learning process.

Money – Pretend money is a great way to encourage kids to learn to count. For some reason, math is just way more fun for kids when it involves money.

It’s a no-brainer that parents want their kids to grow up smart and strong. Making sure that your kids are playing with something educational doesn’t have to difficult. Instead, find ways to make your children’s current favorite toys educational, too.
